Jonathan Frankenberger and Jutta Bechtloff - RSG Belgrade 2025

Jonathan Frankenberger & Jutta Bechtloff

,

Jonathan Frankenberger, Principal Agile Coach at BettercallPaul, already noticed during his computer science studies that software can usually be developed better with agile methods. After a long excursion into the waterfall world, he has been working agile again in various roles since 2016, primarily with Scrum. Currently, as an Agile Coach, he supports product teams at BettercallPaul in “finding better ways to develop software”. In addition, he is also intensively involved with questions about how organizations in the 21st century must be designed in order to be able to offer product teams a good environment to thrive.

Jutta Bechtloff is Senior Managing Consultant at BettercallPaul GmbH. For over 15 years, she has been involved in the design, implementation and introduction of complex software solutions in the business sector in various industries such as education, automotive and insurance. Today she works as a Product Owner, Scrum Master and Quality Manager. In her projects, she lives for the value of holistic solutions and thus leads the projects to success.

Title: Cracking the Code – Rethink Traditional Management in Agile Organizations

Agile transformations often hit a wall – not because of bad intentions, but because of misunderstandings between agile teams and traditional management. While agilists aim to empower, iterate, and collaborate, management structures often remain rooted in hierarchy, control, and predictability. This workshop invites participants to pause and reflect:

What if traditional leadership behaviors actually serve a purpose in the system? And how might we work with, rather than against, them?

In this highly interactive 80-minute session, participants will explore how to navigate and transform seemingly outdated management patterns through systemic understanding and collaborative reframing. Using real-world cases and the self-developed Culture Clash Card, we’ll dive into:

  • The hidden usefulness of classical leadership behaviors
  • What challenges these patterns create at the team level
  • How to craft alternative behaviors that serve the same function but enable agility The workshop is designed to balance theory, practical application, and peer reflection. The goal is not to fight resistance, but to understand it—and shift it together.
